Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - Marcus - 07-15-2026 I just got a mail about this jam: https://itch.io/t/6614044/flip-the-classic-jam-for-basic-programmers I don't know if n7 is an accepted language though. RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - aurel - 07-15-2026 good for me i don't get email seems that EK want to promote himself as some sort of FACTOR in so called "BASIC" world of course with his dialect Buzz RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - Marcus - 07-16-2026 (07-15-2026, 09:08 PM)aurel Wrote: good for me i don't get email Yeah, I had joined the jam but left it now, since I don't believe naalaa is basic enough. RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - johnno56 - 07-17-2026 Hmm... Let's think this through a little, shall we? You "had" joined. Logic dictates that you had an idea or concept to contribute to said Jam. You, being the author of N7, determined that N7 was not "basic enough"... after all, who else would really know? So then the idea is "shelved" or "dicarded"? My opinion, for what it is worth is, you have an idea... you don't "need" a Jam. It's "your" idea, why allow someone else's restriction convince you not to follow through? The majority of my "tinkering" has been using Basic. I chose Naalaa because it is so "basic-like". If the Jam cannot see that, then its their loss... Now... about that idea of yours... RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - Marcus - 07-18-2026 (07-17-2026, 09:26 PM)johnno56 Wrote: Hmm... Let's think this through a little, shall we? It was probably not a good idea. There's a big chance most games in this jam will be about spawning enemies, I think. Invert space invaders and control the flow of enemies. I was thinking about protecting ghosts from the naughty pacman by building walls (that break down after a while, I guess). When all ghosts are dead (hm) you lose, so ... keep them alive for as long as possible. But I'm already working on some games (four weeks vacation, just came back from Paris), and would rather focus on them
RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - aurel - 07-18-2026 I agree Marcus with you such a inverse ideas are crappy if you ask me and we all have our things RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - luwal - 07-20-2026 (07-15-2026, 09:47 AM)Marcus Wrote: I just got a mail about this jam:The jam looks interesting. However, their ideas look much more interesting! https://qb64phoenix.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4791 Various BASIC jams have certain positive effects on introducing BASIC to the younger generation. Thus, I want to see a lot of good entries in this type of BASIC jam. RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - aurel - 07-20-2026 sure sure sure .... i hope i would be polite but ideas from specific "experts" sucks why not use alien sip and start killing people why stay normal ..hmmm this is something un-natural decadent ??? about effect on younger generation i doubt...i really really doubt RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - luwal - 07-24-2026 (07-20-2026, 10:33 PM)aurel Wrote: ....It seems that you are talented in creating nice games. RE: Flip the Classic Jam for BASIC Programmers - aurel - 07-25-2026 sure we should be optimistic i agree but times are changed especially using AI the way of programming is changed good thing that AI is still not an AI than LLM so another tool we must learn how to use that is |
