Oh. Looked at your game image and immediately thought of tilemap. Then the thought jumped to s3d and tilemap. I do not believe that it is a question of "Can it be done?" but one of "How can it be done?"  It would certainly be an interesting twist on the game. Oh. Imagine... 3D Space Invaders; 3D Pong... There's a 3d breakout in examples/games/, I think.

I like the mix of 3d and 2d in Darned Dungeon. It's a 2d game rendered in 3d, and it uses the NES color and palette limitations for sprites and tiles. I want to make some more games in that style. A shootemup or a platform game? I'm not sure. Maybe a roguelike?

N6 has some support for stone age opengl, but I prefer n7 with software rendering.
