You can use GB BASIC to make games(ROMs) for playing on real gameboy machine. Of course you can also run the games(ROMs) which you made inside GB BASIC because there is a built-in emulator. On the other hand, you can also run the games(ROMs) which you made on other Gameboy emulators supporting Windows systems. I never owned a Game Boy. I have seen kids play with them of course... lol
I will download the Linux alpha4 version and check it out...

From what I can see, via the examples, the look and feel of the display looks a lot like the Game Boy screen. It would be better to test it out on some games made for it. I do not think the examples do enough to "show off" its features. But, that's the nature of "alpha" versions. Once the application reaches completion (Beta version or higher) I would suspect that there will be several test games etc.
The language (or syntax) of the Basic looks very familiar. Of course GBB has its own functions. But it looks a lot like old Basic. Learning GBB's commands will take time, just like all other Basic's. The only drawback, for me anyway, is the tiny display (160x144). For kids etc its fine, but for my old eyes, reading glasses are required... lol I will read through the manual and check out all of the available commands.... Looks like I will be needing those reading glasses after all... lol
