I have the "Computer Games Listings" and the "Adventure Games" books in PDF format. As most "Basics" these day, have dropped "line numbers", I rarely use them. Occasionally, when feeling nostalgic, I will fire up the old emulator and tackle a listing or two... The satisfaction of seeing an adventure game display on the screen after hours of typing... taking notes of objects and locations, creating pencil maps, were all part of the fun of Basic... until I got "Error ## in line ##"... Edit. Re-run until there were no bugs.... lol Great fun!

BASIC might be quite popular in 1980's? BASIC dominated the language market? So awesome! Moreover, that publication company is very generous because the company make so many computer books available freely. Well done! Rolleyes

Basic began about 1963 (I think) but wasn't all that popular until the introduction of home computers. Basic took off in the 70's and 80's but declined in the 90's due to more powerful languages. Basic gave users a taste of what programming could do. Many of our older programmers would have been influenced or inspired by their experience with Basic.

I started using Basic in about 1984... still using it... Big Grin

I think Aurel is asking, "Why do you need to know?" or perhaps he has spilled coffee on his keyboard... which is a horrible waste of coffee... lol
