Strange text layout
#1
Fresh install of Linux Mint 22.3 on the old laptop. Fresh install of N7. Noticed the text layout when testing the Theme Editor. I had come across this problem before and found that I needed to install the Microsoft Core Fonts. Installed the fonts and no change.

Is there a way to set the default font for the theme editor?

I'm not so sure... perhaps you could take a look at the source code of ngui_theme_editor.n7 and find the line that sets the font. You can then change it to whichever font you prefer. Then recompile the n7 ...

I looked at that and it seems to refer to a "default" font. But it doesn't mention what that is. My guess would be the default system font... The rest of the application looks normal. It's just the "preview" part of the display that is weird... it's not a big deal... The odds of making another theme is quite low... For me, it's standard procedure, to test all the N7 applications after a new OS is installed. It just looked odd. So I thought I may as well mention it...

Ned and the theme editor both use the ngui library. The default font for the text edit widget is Consolas. Ned overrides this with Courier New. So you can either install Consolas (somehow) or add "SetTextEditorFont("Courier New", 16) somewhere (maybe after "set window") in ngui_theme_editor.n7 and recompile it.

Whenever a font can't be found when I generate a bitmap version (when you call createfont/create font), win api seems to use Times New Roman. The text editor widget needs a fixed width font to function correctly.

This may sound like a stupid thing, "recompile it". How would I do that?

Never mind... I figured it out. Edited as you suggested. Compiled using: wine n7.exe ngui_theme_editor.n7 win32
Re-ran the theme editor and the preview text layout is much better...

You load ngui_theme_editor.n7 in ned and press F5 Big Grin

Ah, sorry, missed the edit Smile

Not a problem... but loading the file and pressing F5 sounds WAY easier than the way I did it... Many thanks! Big Grin
