My N6

Not really a question... My Linux version of N6 lo longer functions... Oh, it loads and executes programs, except for the fact it no longer recognizes the keyboard... *sigh* 

N7 function flawlessly, so it is not a keyboard issue, per se. 

As N6 has not been updated in a "dogs age", I can only conclude that, something within Linux has "moved on" and has left N6 behind... I suppose it was only a matter of time really...

Can anyone remember "way back" when the Linux version of N6 was available on the website? Does anyone have a copy of the ".deb" version of N6? I would like to test that version to see if I still have a keyboard issue with N6...

Just had a thought... stop laughing... could it be a keyboard.lib problem? I have my doubts because I have never had any need to change it... thought's gone...

Do not waste a lot of time with this... Just pointing out an issue with N6 that "I" am having... Looks like I may have to get busy and attempt some N6 to N7 conversions... *gulp* (no promises) lol

I lost the source code of n6 for Linux in a computer crash, but I'll see what files might be sleeping in the folders of my web space.

All I remember is that I used Xlib for everything window related. I know very little about Linux, but I remember that there was a replacement for X growing stronger. I think it was called Wayland? Could it be that you've updated whatever distro you're using and that it has gone from using X to Wayland?

Wayland. Good point. There are only a few Linux distros that use Wayland 'by default'. Linux Mint (cinnamon) 21.3 will be experimenting with Wayland this year. I am currently running with 21.2

If memory serves correctly, and there is a strong chance that it does not, Wayland primarily deals with graphics. Replacing Xorg/X11 graphics server... I would not be surprised if Wayland will also control keyboard input.

Even though I use LM v21.2, I have just entered a simple system search, to find that Wayland protocols have indeed been installed... yeah... 'protocols' include not just graphics... keyboard as well...

I would hold off searching for the old N6.deb file... lol Looks like I am going to get some practice in N6 to N7 conversions... The simple stuff... lol

UPDATE:

I managed to install the Windows version of N6. I have not tested all of N6's capabilities as yet, but the games that would not work with Linux, seems to be running ok.
